PANat-Laptools®

PANat-Laptools®

Tools to help you train your affected arm or leg again, after brain or nerve injury

PANat-Laptools® are simple, flexible training tools that help you practice moving again, even if your movement is very limited. They are useful for people recovering from:

  • Stroke
  • Brain injury
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Partial paralysis

These tools were developed by occupational therapist Fransizka Wälder and are now used internationally as part of the PANat approach, which focuses on active, goal-oriented rehabilitation.

How PANat-Laptools® Can Help You

Adjustable for your level:

The tools can be combined and adjusted to fit your abilities.

They can make exercises easier at first and gradually more challenging as you get stronger.

Helps you relearn movements

The tools give support and guidance so your arm moves correctly.

You can practice basic movements like:

  • Lifting your arm
  • Rotating your forearm
  • Reaching for objects
  • Grasping and releasing

This is important before moving on to more complex everyday activities.

Good for weak or very limited movement

Even very small or weak muscle movements can be activated.

The tools help prevent bad habits and encourage your brain to find new ways to move.

Independent practice

You can train alone or in groups.

Tools can be used at home, in therapy sessions, or on the ward.

The more you practice, the better your strength and control will become.

Practice with real-life goals

Every exercise can be linked to something meaningful, like:

  • Picking up a cup
  • Using cutlery
  • Standing up from a chair
  • Getting dressed

Exercises start simple and gradually become more challenging so you can use your arm in daily life.

When to Use PANat-Laptools®

Early in rehabilitation or after longer periods of reduced function

In the chronic phase of rehabilitation there is no time limit; you can benefit from training at any stage.

If you experience pain, swelling, or restrictions in your joints or soft tissue in the arm or leg

They can be used:

One-on-one with a therapist

In group sessions

At home as part of your long term daily exercises

On the ward for early mobilization

The goal is always:

To help you use your body actively, train functional movements, and become more independent in everyday life.
